This discussion will improve your understanding of the benefits of patent protection, the distinct parts of the patent application, and the flow and complexities within the process of patent application preparation, submission, and examination before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Speaker: Steven H. Washam is a patent attorney, practicing in all areas of intellectual property law with the law firm of Carstens & Cahoon, LLP. Mr. Washam earned his law degree from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and is admitted to practice before the State Bar of Texas, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has substantial experience in copyright, trademark, and patent prosecution, licensing, and litigation, in addition to preparation of patentability, validity/invalidity, and infringement/non-infringement opinions.
