Recent successes suggest that there is great ROI opportunity in tagging IT assets. An article at computerworld.com indicates that hardware manufacturers like IBM and HP are tagging equipment prior to shipment and that end users are finding RFID to be a real time and money-saver.

Jim Ferguson manages the RFID development programs for DataSpan, a national distributor providing data center products and services for over 32 years. Previously he was the Vice President of US Business Development for Innovision Research & Technology, a UK based custom chip design and development firm as the Vice President Strategic Sales for Axcess Technology, an active RFID development and design company based in Carrollton, TX. He is a past member of the INCIT B10.5 sub-committee for ISO 14443 and past chair of the National Bureau of Standards X-4 Subcommittee.
